In Windows 11 and Windows 10, PowerShell can list, pause, resume, and cancel print jobs. The PrintManagement commands are useful when a job is stuck in the queue or when you need to manage a printer from a script.
Open PowerShell and first check the installed printer names. Use the exact name shown in the output in the commands below.
Get-PrinterList the jobs in a printer queue
Get-PrintJob -PrinterName "Printer Name"This displays the current jobs and their IDs. The job ID is needed when you want to pause, resume, or remove one job.
Pause a print job
Suspend-PrintJob -PrinterName "Printer Name" -ID 2Replace 2 with the ID returned by Get-PrintJob.
Resume a print job
Resume-PrintJob -PrinterName "Printer Name" -ID 2Cancel a stuck print job
Remove-PrintJob -PrinterName "Printer Name" -ID 2The command removes only the selected job. Run Get-PrintJob again if you need to check that the queue is clear.
